“Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.” Jim Ryon
Several years ago, Craig Ballantyne ( http://www.craigballantyne.com/ )of the “Early to Rise” newsletter, sponsored a “90 Day Healthy, Wealthy and Wise Challenge” with $100,000 worth of prize money. Over 40,000 people worldwide signed up for it…January 1 – March 31.
It was well structured…before you started, you were required to take measurements and photos for the Healthy category(weight loss, muscle, exercise). Snapshots of bank accounts, business forms/income for the Wealthy. Photographs for the various “Wise” category.
There was a private Facebook page for the challenge and every day we were required to check in and state what steps were taken that day. If you didn’t do your daily check in, you were eventually disqualified.
It was an amazing experience to be a part of. The enthusiasm, the goals, and the results that many experienced…weight loss…body building…health(cancer remission, medications eliminated, operations canceled)…finances improved…businesses launched…books written….blogs started….relationships saved, improved or eliminated. I don’t think that anyone who truly worked on it in some capacity those 90 days failed to change in some way.
I don’t think that many of us would have accomplished what we did without the accountability that was required. Reading everyone’s results/trials/joys/frustrations daily and being able to respond to them and give them whatever they needed to keep on going and keep on succeeding(and their responses to us) pushed us through each day. And in those 90 days, habits were formed…as well as lasting friendships.
